Having just spent time back in Michigan catching fireflies with my kiddos, this one holds a special place in my heart. 

Darkness and light are so interesting to me, mostly because we think that they are opposites, but the reality is quite different. Darkness is not the opposite of light, it is the absence of light. 

That's a beautiful realization, and it's exactly why this reminder is so powerful. Everyone you know will go through dark periods in their lives. Whether anxiety or depression, grief or loss, these things often feel like dark, dark places that hurt immensely. But just like a firefly doesn't try to illuminate the entire sky at night, I believe that we can be little beacons of light in someone's life that make them realize they are not alone. In fact, I wrote it on the card:

"A smile can illuminate just about anything."

My hope with this beautiful bracelet is that it helps you remember to smile at others more often. You have no idea how many lives you'll change with such a simple act of kindness.
